SMILE (St Munchin?s and Moyross Initiative for Learning and
Education) School Completion Programme wishes to appoint a full-time
(**Apply on the website** hours) Project Worker.
SMILE SCP is located in the Northside of Limerick city and includes
the catchment area of Ballynanty, Kileely, Thomondgate, Moyross and
Caherdavin. There are six schools in its cluster are comprising of one
secondary school and five primary schools, namely: Thomond Community
College, Thomond Primary School, Salesian?s Primary School, Corpus
Christi, Mary Queen of Ireland and Christ the King.
The role of the Project Worker, under the direction of the Project
Coordinator, will be to work with a selected group of young people
being supported to remain in school until the leaving certificate or
equivalent. The core objectives of School Completion Programme are to
improve Attendance, Participation and Retention which will be
supported through the delivery of in-school, afterschool,
out-of-school and holiday provision.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE:
* A recognised third level qualification or equivalent in any of the
following: _Education/psychology/community development/social
sciences/other relevant qualification_
* A minimum of 3 years? experience of working with children &
young people at-risk in a supportive environment
* Experience and strong understanding of child-led support &
engagement
* Proficient at planning, implementing and evaluating programmes
* Experience of working collaboratively with agencies
* Proficient IT skills, report writing, data collection
* Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to children
across the target group age-range
* An understanding of working in the community & voluntary sector
